Women wearing pink holding ribbon

It’s that time of year again… Breast Cancer Awareness season is upon us, and with it, a variety of fundraising opportunities to raise money for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and, ultimately, cure. For the last six years, LUSO Federal Credit Union has been a staunch supporter of those fighting breast cancer and has held fundraisers to raise money for The Rays of Hope and The Pink W.A.Y., local organizations geared toward helping those who are diagnosed with breast cancer. To date, LUSO has contributed over $50,000 to these organizations.

According to breastcancer.org, besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. In 2019, an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 62,000 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. Additionally, about 2,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men.

For those fighting breast cancer, the color pink is a symbol of health, vitality and empowerment. It is a color closely associated with October, a month designated for Breast Cancer Awareness.

To show our support for those fighting breast cancer, LUSO Federal Credit Union is again holding several fundraisers to raise money for The Rays of Hope and The Pink W.A.Y., with a goal of raising $10,000.

 Fundraising Opportunities:

Banking on a Cure Calendar and Calendar of Thanksgiving – $10 donation for one OR a $15 donation for two. Prize values on both calendars total over $3,000!

Taste of Western MA Books – $25 each. Over $2,000 in savings at the area’s most popular restaurants, retailers (including Big Y Supermarkets!) and other local attractions.

Direct Donations – We’ll also accept direct donations in any amount – contribute as much or as little as you’d like… every little bit helps!

In addition to these fundraising opportunities, LUSO employees’ Friday dress-down money benefits our Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising.
