Ludlow, MA, February 22, 2016 – LUSO Federal Credit Union (www.LusoFederal.com), a financial cooperative locally owned and operated by its members since 1971, announces it will be joining in on America Saves Week, a campaign where financial institutions across the country encourage clients to save money. As a way to put a fun spin on what for many Americans may be a dry topic, LUSO has decided to use “saving selfies” to promote the event.

“The idea is simple, but elegant,” explains Jennifer Calheno, President and CEO of LUSO Federal Credit Union. “Members are being asked to take pictures of themselves with a sign of their savings goal or of things that they are trying to save up for. By posting these pictures to social media and using the hashtags #imsavingfor and #lusofederal, the hope is that a conversation can be started about proper financial planning and savings management.”

LUSO will be hosting a member photo each day during the lead up to America Saves Week and during the event itself. Flyers and other handouts that provide concrete guidance on how members can improve their savings and enjoy better financial security will be available at the credit union’s branches.

America Saves Week runs from February 22 to February 27. The campaign is managed by the non-profit Consumer Federation of America (CFA), which seeks to motivate and support low- to moderate-income households to save money, reduce debt, and build wealth. In 2015, the CFA honored LUSO with a Designation of Savings Excellence seal.

LUSO Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative providing many services, including checking accounts, savings accounts, mortgages, auto loans, refinancing and more with two Western Massachusetts branch locations in Ludlow and Wilbraham. More information about LUSO Federal Credit Union can be found at www.LusoFederal.com.
