Teaching our children financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness skills are the basic tenets of the Junior Achievement (JA) program, a program that was founded in Western Massachusetts. Both Wilbraham Middle School and Thornton Burgess Middle School join a growing number of area schools that offer 100% of the students a Junior Achievement experience.
WMS’s JA In a Day Program will be offered on Friday, October 21st and TWB’s program will be offered on Tuesday, November 22nd. On these days, LUSO Federal Credit Union will be coordinating the concurrent teaching of 26 JA classes for the 6th , 7th, and 8th grades at WMS as well as 10 classes for grades 5 through 8 at TWB.
We are in need of community volunteers who can spend from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. teaching a Junior Achievement class to one of these grades. All materials and training for the program are provided as well as a volunteer lunch. If you are interested in learning more or are able to help please contact Sharon Dufour at email@example.com, Kim Anderson at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 413-589-9966. This is a truly rewarding experience both for the students and the volunteer!
